I can’t believe what I just saw. A giant replica of Mount Rushmore next to a replica of the White House and the Lincoln Memorial on highway 27 in Clermont. I was driving by the Citrus Tower and there it was. I’ve driven this road a bunch and usually I’m looking for Jack’s BBQ so that’s why I’ve been missing it. At first it felt like I was trapped in a B rated horror flick, but the place starts to grow on you and then it’s more like a scene out of National Lampoon’s Vacation. You don’t come across too many wax museums in these parts much less the President’s Hall of Fame in Clermont of all places.
Admission is only $11.95 for adults and $6.95 for kids. There’s a intricately detailed 60′ x 20′ scale model of the White House inside along with a host of spooky yet patriotic wax figures, a collection of gowns formally worn by first ladies, and among other things a host of Jackie Kennedy auction items.
A trip into the gift shop here will make you feel like you’re in a B rated horror flick again with just some bazaar items although again quite patriotic. I just can’t figure out who comes up with the brilliant idea to produce such whimsical items.
