Gators Stalk Kids at Windermere Elementary

alligator1 300x225 Gators Stalk Kids at Windermere ElementarySeveral giant alligators were found roaming near Windermere Elementary this morning at the intersection of Main Street and Park Avenue and it has everyone on edge. The students have been made aware that the alligators can eat them and they should stay away.

The school is a just a few hundred yards from Lake Down which is part of the Butler Chain of Lakes. There’s tons of gators in the chain but you rarely see them getting too far away from the lake.

Gator attacks are fairly rare in Central Florida except where people feed them. They’re just a part of the landscape here and probably here before anyone else.

Newcomers to the area always ask if there are gators in every lake in Florida, and the answer is they are in every lake. I prefer to see gators over snakes because at least you can see them coming and you can keep a safe distance.

Waterfront properties in SW Orlando tend to be the most coveted but you will get some visits from these guys so you may want to take this into consideration.
