Whole Foods on Sand Lake Opens June 25

June 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments

All of us in Dr. Phillips and Windermere have been awaiting the opening of Whole Foods on Sand Lake Rd. and Turkey Lake Rd.. I noticed this sign driving by this weekend and it looks like the grand opening is June 25, 2008.

I love this place. There’s a Whole Foods within walking distance from my sister’s house in Palo Alto and I’ve enjoyed talking a stroll over there and picking up my favorite item at the store, coffee cake. It figures that it’s probably the least healthy thing there, but it is really good. At least I can take solace in the fact that it’s organic.

Whole Foods also has a neat cooking show video podcast called Secret Ingredient for people who are big on taste but short on time, basically everybody. I’d also take a look at the Whole Story blog for everything about healthy food.

The new shopping center that the Whole Foods on Sand Lake will be in is called Phillips Crossing and will also have a Pei Wei, Michaels, Seito Sushi, Golf Galaxy, and others in the 147,376 square feet of retail space. I can’t wait.

I’m gonna check out the Sand Lake location – I hear that a lot of sales are still going on due to the grand opening. Plus it’s huge so they offer a larger selection there. One thing I wanted to note, however, is that some of the pastries, hot bar & salad bar items are NOT organic. I assumed that everything within the store would be organic, but there are exceptions. Unless it’s noted on the packaging, I was informed that the item isn’t organic. I live in Winter Park, so I frequent the WP location on a frequent basis.
