The first business at the Rialto on Sand Lake Rd. to open is J Alexanders. It’s a fine addition to the Dr. Phillips “Restaurant Row“. While there’s plenty of restaurants here, J Alexanders is the only restaurant with straight up American food with hardwood grilled steaks, prime rib, baby back ribs, burgers, fresh seafood and salads featured on the menu. The ambiance is quite nice and it reminds me a little bit of Houston’s. The complimentary valet parking is also a nice touch. I hear the baby back ribs and prime rib are the ones to try first, but everything looks pretty good. I did not get any of photos of the interior out of fears of getting blasted by an arsenal of Japanese tourist jokes. I’ve got to get one of those tiny cameras, but the big ones take much nicer pictures.
I’m glad the Rialto project is starting to open businesses, although I don’t see any signs of apartments or condos. The Intermezzo at Rialto was sold as condos for a year and now is rumored to be luxury apartments. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the Wilder Company decides to do with the residential side of the project. In any case it looks like Bar Louie will be the next place to open and I’m eager to see how it turns out.
