A bar that opened last week on International Drive is giving a new meaning to having a drink on the rocks. Everything at the newly opened Icebar is completely made of ice and I mean everything including the couch, chairs, walls, bars, glasses, sculptures, and even the fireplace. It’s literally a crystal palace like Superman’s home in the Arctic with the thermostat set at a chilly 27 degrees.
Talk about a good way to beat the blistery summer heat in Florida. I know every summer I’m wishing for a cool day and now I can go to this place, have a drink, and confirm to myself that the cold sucks. It’ll cost $35 for 45 minutes of some Arctic bliss. I guess they don’t want people leaving the bar sick, just a little tipsy.
These things are supposed to be the craze in Europe at the moment and now making it to the States. I just can’t figure out why all the cool things start over there. We’ll see if the tourist crowds on International Drive takes a liking to it or not.
