I just had a conversation with some prospective home buyers for Windermere today and they reminded me how important schools are in deciding where to live. Heaven knows you don’t want to end up in a school with buses like the one pictured here. I’m in the real estate business and not education, but there are some great resources to help figure out which schools are going to be the best fit.

One of most focused on local schools here in Central Florida is the America’s Education Guide. I believe it’s the most comprehensive aid for finding schools in Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, and Volusia counties. Better yet, private schools are in there too. Test scores, art and athletic programs, and tuition for private schools are also included.

Another great resource is greatschools.net. There’s lots of valuable info here and I really like the feature that lets you compare schools side by side.

Leave it to me to point out the obvious but be smart and do your homework before deciding on the school that’s best for you.
