A Goodbye to a Dear Old Friend

January 5th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Barbara BradyMy heart’s been heavy this past week because many of us lost a dear old friend this past week. I feel so fortunate to have known Barbara Brady. She’s the original Southwest Orlando specialist and an guardian angel to me. She’s been my mentor into the real estate business, but most of all one of my very good friends.

It seems like just the other day when I met her at my first job straight out of college. She was the top real estate agent at the office and I wanted to be just like her someday…. I’m still working on it by the way.

I’ve never met anyone more dedicated, caring, and willing to help. I believe it carried over to everything she did. A quote she emailed to me one day still sticks with me today. It said, good service comes from the heart.  She was extremely busy and successful, but somehow always had time to help me out as well as countless others.

I’ve been fortunate in my life in the fact that there’s always been someone looking out for me and teaching me things throughout the different stages of my life for whatever reason and Barbara has been that person for me a bunch of times. She’s been that angel lookin out for me… cheesy, I know but Barbara would appreciate that comment for sure.

I can’t say how many times she’s helped me out but it’s been a bunch. The funny thing is, some of the things I’m gonna miss about her is her distinctive kackly laugh, her disdain for mispronounced words which I’m guilty of egging her on with on a few occasions, and the fact that I knew she was somewhere close by when I smelled fried chicken. Really, I’m gonna miss her period. I feel fortunate to have known her and may peace be with you.

If Barbara has touched your life, please pay tribute to her on her guestbook: Barbara Brady Guestbook

When your WHY is big enough, your HOW becomes easy…. The other day ( when I encouraged you guys to write down your dreams) no matter how seemingly unattainable, did you? I did…(because I felt I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t) and would be happy to share them with you if you like. I would love to compare notes with you sometime and encourage and hold you accountable to the things needed to attain those dreams. There is POWER in writing things down. Karen confirmed the value in this yesterday when she shared that a mutual friend, and fellow realtor named Barbara Brady, one of the most successful agents in Southwest Orlando regularly wrote down and updated her dreams. We both remember Barbara when she used to be the “Queen BEE” listing agent of a condo community near Universal Studios called Windhover Condominium and she becamewas a real estate force to be reckoned with. Try it. Let’s compare notes now and at the end of 2013 and make some BIG gains in realizing those dreams!

Cool. Sounds like a plan. I’ve been needing some inspiration lately and learned a lot from dear old Barbara. I keep noticing her presence every once in a while. Shoot me an email.
