The Original Green Builder

Making a living doing real estate usually means you have some appreciation for the art and beauty in architecture. I’ve gotta admit there’s always been a fascination with the emotions that architecture can pull out of ya.

It just occurred to me that the largest collection of arguably the best architect of all time, Frank Lloyd Wright, is nearby in Lakeland, FL at Florida Southern College. The Guggenheim is probably his most well known work, but much of the same genius that created this work can be found within a 3o minutes drive from Dr. Phillips and Windermere.

He probably built the original green home in 1937 at his residence called “Falling Water” in Pennsylvania and many of his favorite design elements like  glass tiles are coming back into vogue today.

Residents of SW Orlando are fortunate to have such places to visit within a short drive.

Nice article. We have one example of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture in a home here in Rochhster, NY. A friend of ours is busily restoring it, a great expense, to its original spendor after it having sat vacant for many years. He spends a lot of time negotiating with the local historical commission to assure his restoration is all approved.
