Golf community offerings in Dr. Phillips include Bay Hill and Orange Tree. Bay Hill offers a PGA tour quality course with lots of amenities where the “king” Arnold Palmer reigns, while Orange Tree offers the most difficult course in Central Florida with a low number of members. Homes in both communities will require some updating, but they have aged gracefully and many have taken steps toward renovation.
Bay Hill Club and Lodge is home to the “king” Arnold Palmer and hosts an annual PGA event. Most of the top names make it to this event since it’s associated with Arnie. The club also offers a separate nine hole course called the “Charger” that is just as tough as the championship course. Initiation fees run $28,000 with annual fees at $7,192 but there’s lots of members here and getting a last minute tee time can be a challenge. One of the most wonderful features of Bay Hill is the large marina on the Butler Chain of Lakes. The homes in Bay Hill were mostly built in the 70’s so many of them will require some updates but they do offer spacious lots. Although the homes here are older, Bay Hill has always been one of the more popular communities in the area because it has aged with grace.
Some newer homes can be found in communities that are adjacent to Bay Hill which include: Bay Point, Tibet Point, Isle of Osprey, North Bay, South Bay, and Bentley Park. All of these communities share roads with Bay Hill so residents do not have to travel outside the community to reach the golf club. Prices in Bay Hill start at about $250k and can go up to several million. The properties on the golf course are obviously the most prized and tend to require a premium. Many of the older homes on the golf course have been torn down and replaced with modern mansions in recent years. Bay Hill will always remain a favorite among communities in Dr. Phillips.
Orange Tree Country Club offers one of the most challenging courses in Central Florida. Tiger Woods trains here in the weeks leading up to the U.S. Open because of it’s narrow and challenging fairways. Many golfers will say that Orange Tree is one of Central Florida’s best kept secrets. Initiation fees and monthly dues are quite affordable compared to others in the area. Membership numbers are so low it’s easy just to show up and play. The community is guard gated and homes here were mostly built in the 80’s so some updates will be required here. The St. Ives section built in the early 90’s is the newest section of Orange Tree. The golf villas here are among the most popular with lawn maintenance included in the hoa fees and many of them providing stunning views of the golf course. Home pricing starts around $200k and maxes out around $600k currently. Orange Tree is a large community that offers a challenging course with a low number of members and moderately priced homes.
